The truth about overnight success

Published by michaelkidzinski on

Success – this word means something different for every person. Why? Well, because every person is unique and wants something different in life.

People who love business, wants to build huge business and this is success for them.

People who love sport, want to be world champions in their disciplines or Olympic champions.

People involved in entertainment industry like actors or singers want to win the most important prizes in their areas.

As you can see, understanding word “success” depends on every person but I wanted to share with you something that can concern every success.

You see, when we look at successful person, we don’t see the whole process of how this person achieved it. We see only the last part where this person is already successful and based on that we very often think that success is something that can be achieved fast.

And what is the truth? What is the truth about overnight success? I think that it’s good to listen someone who knows what he talks about and this person can be Gary Vaynerchuk for sure.

In the video below you can see what he talks about this subject…

The truth about overnight success

I don’t know what success means to you but I know that if you really want it then nothing can stop you. I also know that it requires hard work and dedication from your side but isn’t truth that when we love what we do then we don’t really work?

I found few quotes about overnight success that confirm what Gary said above…

“It took me 17 years and 114 days to become an overnight success.” – Lionel Messi

“There are no quick wins in business – it takes years to become an overnight success.” – Richard Branson

“… so remember: great achievements take time, there is no overnight success.” – Leo Tolstoy

“Timing, perseverance, and ten years of trying will eventually make you look like an overnight success.” – Biz Stone

“My dad told me, ‘It takes fifteen years to be an overnight success’, and it took me seventeen and a half years.” – Adrien Brody

Important thing here in my eyes is that no one knows how much time you need to succeed but regardless of every success requires preparation. Knowing that helps in the whole process.

There’s something that Gary said in the video above that I want to point out…

He said that if we really want to do something then why quitting after weeks, months or even years without results? This question helps understand that in order to achieve real success we just need to do what we love, not what other people say we should do.
